Pianist Yuko Osawa and tenor Yu Shao combine their artistic sensibilities in a recital steeped in poetry and lyricism. Through a programme in which the words of Petrarch, Victor Hugo, Armand Silvestre and Gabriele d’Annunzio engage in dialogue, they explore the many facets of European Romanticism. From passionate outbursts to the most delicate confidences, this musical journey brings the voice and the piano together in a single breath of emotion, dreams and elegance.

Yuko Osawa (piano)
With a passion for philosophy and literature, Yuko studied aesthetics at the University of Tokyo. She went on to complete a Master’s degree in piano at the Musashino Academia Musicae, where her encounter with Junji Mitsuishi led her to pursue a career as a vocal coach. Fascinated by the French vocal repertoire, she moved to Paris in 2016 and furthered her training with Irene Kudela, Sébastien Joly and Françoise Tillard. A laureate of the Royaumont Foundation (2019/2020) and the Arcal’s Jeune Scène Lyrique (2024), she leads a varied career spanning vocal accompaniment and stage production.
As vocal coach at the Académie Lyrique de Boissettes en Scène, she has been accompanying the masterclasses since the very first edition, alongside Neil
Shicoff, Karine Deshayes, Nicolas Courjal and Florian Sempey.
As the official accompanist for the Georges Enesco International Singing Competition and the Les Maîtres du Chant competition, she also collaborates with the Maîtrise de Radio France, Opera a Palazzo, Opéra Clandestin and the Ensemble Sequentiae, amongst others. As part of the Stein-lein-chen company, she has been involved in the creation and touring of several productions, including *Rencontres*, *Youkali* and *Un concert sous vos fenêtres*.
Yu Shao (tenor)
After studying at the Shanghai Conservatoire with Wu Bo, Yu Shao continued his training in France with Eléonore Jost and then Leontina Vaduva. In 2012, he joined the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium and furthered his studies with José Van Dam. Winner of fourth prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition and third prize at the Toulouse International Competition in 2014, he joined the Paris National Opera Academy that same year. Since then, he has performed on numerous stages across France and Europe, notably at the Paris National Opera, the Opéra Comique, the Bordeaux Opera, the Lille Opera, the Montpellier Opera, the Theater Aachen and the Aix-en-Provence Festival. His repertoire includes, notably, Ferrando (Così fan tutte), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Romeo (Romeo and Juliet), Alfredo (La traviata), Des Grieux (Manon), Ismaele (Nabucco) and the Helmsman (Der fliegende Holländer). His recent engagements have included "Romeo and Juliet" at La Seine Musicale and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, as well as the role of Pong in "Turandot" at the Rouen Opera.
