Aïgal
Women’s a cappella group
Founded in 2017 in Bordeaux, Aïgal brings together six singers driven by a desire to explore the a cappella repertoire and to create performances as a collective.
Comprising two sopranos and four mezzo-sopranos, Aïgal emphasises warm, rich tones and offers audiences a diverse range of female voices. Their approach to repertoire selection stems from this subtle sonic palette, encompassing both traditional music and 21st-century compositions.

Aïgal makes it a point of honour to reach out to all audiences and to share lyrical sounds by making these repertoires accessible.
In 2019, Aïgal won the Jury’s Prize of Honour at the Léopold Bellan Competition, the highest distinction in the Vocal Ensembles category.
Currently, two shows suitable for all ages coexist, sharing the common aim of creating unique musical interludes where song meets poetry and storytelling, stimulating the imagination and offering an escape: *Les Présents du Soleil*, a Lappish musical tale, and *Trobaïritz*, an immersion into the world of female troubadours and the Occitan language, based on poems by Brigita Miremont, for which two pieces were commissioned for the Aïgal ensemble by composers Felipe Carrasco Lutz and Anthony Mondon with the support of SACEM. Lise Borel commissioned an arrangement of ‘Regina Caeli’ for six equal voices a cappella.
Aïgal is a laureate of the Génération Spedidam programme for the period 2025–2027.
The ensemble chose the name of a wind that sweeps across south-western France to give meaning to its musicality.
